Brad Rusin signed with the Rowdies on December 24, 2014.
Rusin, a 6-foot-4 natural center back, most recently played for Orlando City in 2014, where he made 23 appearances and scored two goals. He spent 2013 with Major League Soccer’s Vancouver Whitecaps FC, where he made 19 MLS appearances, including 16 starts.
Originally from Crown Point, Indiana, Rusin moved to the Tampa Bay area to attend the world-renowned IMG Academy in Bradenton from 2002-2005 before playing collegiately for the UCLA Bruins.
Rusin, 28, brings domestic and international experience to the Rowdies. His professional career began in 2009 with the Carolina RailHawks after a series of European trials with England’s Bolton Wanderers and Norway’s IK Start and FK Bodø/Glimt. Rusin played 3,834 minutes for the RailHawks over two-and-a-half seasons, proving to be among the first names on the team sheet as club captain.
A move to the Danish first division with HB Køge, where he played for two seasons from 2011-2013, was next for Rusin. There, Rusin made 33 appearances, including 22 starts and 2,059 minutes.
