The Rowdies signed Robert Hernandez on December 30, 2014.
Hernández, 21, joins the Rowdies after spending four seasons with Venezuelan First Division club Deportivo Anzoátegui. During his time in Venezuela, Hernández played in over 90 matches for the club, including 11 appearances in both Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana.
At the age of 19, Hernández was instrumental in Deportivo Anzoátegui’s 2012 Apertura championship run, scoring the decisive goal that gave the Aurirrojo their first Venezuelan championship. That same year, Deportivo Anzoátegui won its second Copa Venezuela, where Hernández drew the penalty that gave them the game-winning goal.
The 5-foot-5 midfielder is known for his quickness and creativity, as well as his ability to set up scoring chances in the final third. His impressive performances led him to be called up to the U-20 Venezuelan National Team, where he made four appearances in the 2013 South American Youth Football Championship.
